BIOGRAPHY

La Godiva (birth name Teresa Nova) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. Her debut songs (Farewell, Liar, Unfair, Superficial and Hell No) were released in fall 2012 on iTunes and Spotify among other music sites. The genre is a unique mix between House and R&B, inspired by Swedish House Mafia and R&B/pop artists like Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin. Other famous role models that inspired her when growing up were The Beatles, Rolling Stones and David Bowie.

Early life

The artist started singing at a very early age, attending a local music school after regular classes. Apart from singing, she has also been taking piano and violin lessons from the age of six. Apparently, her passion in songwriting started at the age of nine when she started experimenting with her new domestic music studio. Her first home recording was "On My Own" from the musical Les Miserables.

She was born and raised in Sweden, but La Godiva has a Czech and a Polish background. At the age of nine she lived in Weston-super-Mare (England) for half a year attending Corpus Christi Primary School. When she moved back to Sweden she attended an English primary and secondary school (Internationella Engelska Skolan). Actually, it was the same school that the singers in First Aid Kit attended. The artist became quadrilingual being raised with four different languages: Swedish, Czech, Polish and English.

Career

In her childhood, the artist has performed in events at the local music school, mostly playing the violin and singing. She was also a member of the local church choir and has also participated in musicals at the church. In her early teens she has been on various school performances that mostly consisted of singing and playing the piano.

When she turned sixteen she got recruited by one of the top Swedish modelling agencies called Stockholmsgruppen. Soon thereafter she got an offer to be a runway model for the MAKE UP STORE brand when presenting their new collection for fall 2008. The featured model was the winner of the TV show Sweden's Next Top Model in 2007. However, in her late teens she was determined to focus more on her songwriting and music production, so she quit modelling to throw herself into the music business.

In the fall of 2012 she released her first EP called Farewell with the new songs: Farewell, Liar, Unfair, Superficial and Hell No. Afterwards, she has appeared on TV, radio and various blogging sites (mostly the United Kingdom, Sweden and the Czech Republic).

The year of 2013 has been busy with the media, working on a music video and producing more songs. She has also been performing on festivals and DJ clubs. By the end of the year she finished working on the next EP, which is going to be released in 2014.
